UFAWU-Unifor Holds Pender Harbour All Fishermen's Meeting
Yesterday, UFAWU-Unifor held an All Fishermen's Meeting in Pender Harbour, Madeira Park, BC.
The meeting was open to both members and non-members of UFAWU-Unifor.
The meeting focused on recent Federal fisheries management decisions and the future of the commercial fishery.
Union staff also covered the recent work and areas of UFAWU-Unifor focus.
The discussion also covered the importance of public food supply, the implementation of an owner-operator licence class, allocation and quota, and the specific decisions made by Minister Joyce Murray. The threat of an out-of-control pinniped population was also touched on.
All Fishermen's Meetings allow UFAWU-Unifor staff to connect with harvesters — both to share union news and work, and, more importantly, to hear what matters to fishermen.
UFAWU-Unifor has held All Fishermen's Meetings across BC. Stay tuned for future meetings in your area.
