James Lawson is UFAWU-Unifor’s current elected President. James is an active fishermen and works as a skipper in salmon seine, herring, prawn and geoduck fisheries. James is elected to the Area A and B seine Harvest Committees. He has been an outspoken advocate on social issues in fisheries on the B.C. coast for many years.

Kyle Louis UFAWU-Unifor’s current elected vice president. He is a 4th generation commercial fisherman. Owner operator that fishes Gillnet prawn crab and herring. Kyle has spent a lot of time speaking up on behalf of fisherman regarding our issues. Also sits on the board of directors for IMAWG.

Guy Johnston is UFAWU-Unifor’s current elected Secretary-Treasurer. Guy fishes by trap for prawns and shrimp, while using hook and line to catch salmon, rockfish, and lingcod. Guy is elected to the Area H troll Harvest Committee and sits on the Prawn Industry Caucus. Guy has been involved with UFAWU-Unifor for many years.

Richard Michelson is a 4th generation fisherman running a salmon seiner. Richard owns a prawner and herring punt and take part in the gulf herring dive spawn survey. Richard represents seine fishermen on the GEB

Calvin Siider is a member of the Area D Gillnet Harvest Committee and also fishes prawns, halibut and herring. He sits on the UFAWU-Unifor General Executive Board to represent Herring fishermen.

Russell Cameron is appointed by the Union as our representative on the Halibut Advisory Board. He is also involved in the roe herring fishery. Russel sits on the UFAWU-Unifor General Executive Board representing Halibut Longline fisheries.

Joy Thorkelson is UFAWU-Unifor’s Northern Rep. Joy entered the industry as a shoreworker in 1974. She has worked for UFAWU-Unifor since 1979 in the roles of northern organizer, representative, and is the UFAWU-Unifor past president.
